Add a guestbook to your blog
Bear doesn't have a built in guestbook feature.
A guestbook works best as a page you curate, not a submission pipeline. A form adds several steps before a message can appear: collecting it, verifying the sender’s email address, filtering spam, and reviewing it in a queue.
With a manual guestbook, every message reaches you directly as an email, and you decide what belongs on the page. It also validates the sender's email address by default, so no need for them to have the extra step of validating its existence, or creating an account
- Create a page called Guestbook and add this note to the top of it:
Want to sign my guestbook? Email you@email.com with Guestbook as the subject. Include the name you’d like displayed and your message, and I'll add it to this guestbook.
- When an entry arrives, add it to the page yourself. You can include the sender’s name and the date, then save the updated page.
Nothing appears publicly until you choose to add it, so there’s no confirmation link or moderation queue to manage. The email address you add above is public, so consider using one you’re comfortable sharing.
